Visitors from Bray (Co. Wicklow)

So the visitors keep coming!  Either Gwen or I are the most charming and entertaining couple in the country or the town of Kinsale is.  I suspect it is more to do with the town!

On Friday night Billy (Gwen’s oldest brother), Deirdre (his wife of 20 years), and their three kids  Emer, Aoife and Caolin (twins) and their dog Duke landed.   It was déjà vu all over again at the kitchen table again with lots of tea, wine, sandwiches, chat, laughs, etc… You get the gist, the “craic” was good!

Next morning started with a huge fry and then off in the rain for some walking and exploring around the town.  We make it to the Scilly Walk where the heavens opened and unfortunately the walk had to be cut short while we all sought shelter in the Spaniard.  Bummer!  The weather eventually broke, the sun came out and Gwen, Billy and Deirdre continued walking and exploring I took everyone else home

Later that evening everyone helped to make a huge Italian feast consisting of O’Flynns sweet Italian Sausage, our famous marinara, homemade garlic bread (made on the grill/BBQ) and a great salad with a dressing that I think all ten of us played a part in composing (it was really good!).

After dinner the kids took to the couch in front of the TV while the adults wandered into the town for a few good pints at the most excellent Grey Hound.   A grand ole time had by all.  Our girls got to stay up really late with their cousins and I noticed the three of them had beautifully painted finger and toe nails the next day.  Emer, I think you must have had something to do with that?

Sunday was a very lazy day but the weather was just too nice not to take advantage and cook homemade hamburgers outdoors for our guests before they hit the road.  Our house now seems eerily quite after being so full.

Billy, Deirdre,  Emer, Aoife and Caoilin –thanks so much for coming down.  It might take Gwen and I a week or two to recover from the madness of this weekend but we certainly enjoyed every minute of it.  Come again any time, you are all quality and great fun visitors.

PS: Emer – sorry to bundle you in the with the “kids”, I am just still not used to you being so grown up!

PPS: Some pictures follow and if you are wondering why the quality of the photography is so much better than usual it is because Deirdre took them.  She is a proper photographer with some really cool camera equipment!
