Girls made it through the week at their new school. Still very much confused with all the Irish being spoken but the school is lovely as are all the kids, teachers and the parents. We are all really enjoying walking to and from the place with three trips a day as Sarah gets out an hour earlier than Anna.
My first three days back working have also gone well. It will take a bit of getting used to working from upstairs but I think have been really productive so far.
Last night Gwen organized a sitter and we got out by ourselves for our second time in about 12 weeks. We had reservations for La Jola's which seems to be considered one of the best restaurants in the town. (BTW the town is full of restaurants). It did not disappoint and the food, service and restaurant itself was excellent. We had smoked salmon with potato pancakes to start, I had the lamb cutlets and Gwen had a nice rare steak and finished with a home made ice cream served with chocolate vodka. I think the lamb was probably the best I have ever eaten (no joke), Gwen even liked it and she detests lamb. I quizzed the waitress afterwards about what the chef did and it was from Balinspittle and was marinated for a few hours in red wine and fresh herbs before cooking. Unbelievability tasty.
Saturday now and weather is absolutely gorgeous. Gwen is busy in kitchen making a big batch of our famous marinara and I made a big batch of our own meatballs. Most are now in the freezer but enough were left out for dinner this evening. While down the town this morning picking up vegetables in the green grocer for Gwen's sauce I brought home some Bandon Vale Vintage Cheddar which is yet another superb West Cork cheese discovery. We are living in food paradise!
Only other news is that Sarah has just conquered the monkey bars. Big milestone for her!
