I am a man with no car.

I sold my car on ebay on Sunday and it was picked up this evening.  I ended up getting a great price from a car dealer in California but had to hold back the tears as it was loaded onto a big auto transport trailer.  The funny part was that I got a call from the police about 10 minutes after it was picked saying that one of our neighbours had reported that someone stole it from our driveway.   All is sorted now and the titanium silver beauty is safe on a big truck heading to Costa Mesa with 11 other cars.

Gwen's car is next and will be posting on ebay in about a week.

Happy hour at the Dub with the girls!

We had a showing yesterday from 2-3 so headed out for a walk around the neighbourhood with the girls on their bikes.  We worked up a bit of a thirst on what was a beautiful day so stopped in at the Dubliner to see Tara and enjoy a nice cold beer.   Girls had grenadine and soda and were well impressed with the cherry garnish.

Our Dallas home is under contract.

Good news!  59 days on the market and we are now officially under contract.  Assuming inspections and financing go well we will close on May 7th.  We came down a little on price but still think we did OK considering these market conditions.  It is a brilliant house and we hope the new owners enjoy it and the location as much as we did.

46 days

Cannot believe we only have 46 days left in Texas.  We noticed this weekend that that mosquitoes were out in force so I guess it's goodbye to sitting outside in the evening enjoying this beautiful spring weather.  We certainly will not miss those annoying blood sucking pests when we move but will miss these lovely April nights.

We had a last minute showing of the house tonight at 6:30pm so had to abandon all cooking plans, do a rapid tidy up and head out to dinner with the girls to Cafe Madrid.

We ate some Manchego cheese, serrano ham, blood sausage, garlic shrimp, Spanish omelet, spinach croquettes and a big plate of knarley squid which the girls think is octopus.   The more tentacles the better as far as they are concerned.   All washed done with the obligatory bottle of Sangre de Toro which is really a pretty bad wine but always tastes good with oily, garlicky Spanish tapas.

So home now.  Gwen is upstairs doing some bed time reading (Secret Island by Enid Blyton) to Anna and Sarah.  On progress front we have still not sold our Dallas house and still do not have a house in Ireland!   Still planning on finishing work on 14th May and bidding is going well on my car on ebay.

Thats all for now.

Open house from 1pm to 3pm today

We dropped the price on our house a little to see if that helps generate some more activity.  It is open today from 1pm-3pm so better logoff and start helping Gwen with the big tidy up.

This is the area we are hoping to move to in Kinsale

This is the end of the Bandon river which flows through Kinsale.  The red arrow shows the location of a house we are in negations on (to rent) and is located right on the banks of the river.   It is only 5 minutes from the town and right near a small beach, a pub and James Fort.

Hopefully the deal works out as as you can see it is a beautiful location.

The local Brew....

"Murphy's is a lighter and sweeter dry stout. Its flavour is evocative of caramel and malt, and is described as "a distant relative of chocolate milk".  The resemblance to milk extends beyond flavour to texture; Murphy's is free from any hint of carbonation, and is delivered "black as strong cappuccino" with an inch of foam – "the head" – on top. The head, in particular, is lauded for its remarkably thick and creamy nature and its "spoonable" density."
